Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our team at Webster County Middle School. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers in providing an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students, particularly those who are English language learners. The Instructional Assistant will work closely with students, assisting them in their academic pursuits while fostering their language development and cultural understanding. Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, focusing on language acquisition and comprehension skills. Facilitate communication between English-speaking teachers and bilingual students and their families, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to the teacher regarding individual student needs and achievements. Collaborate with other staff members, including special education professionals, to ensure that all students receive the necessary support. Engage with parents and the community to promote student success and encourage family involvement in the educational process. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and at least one additional language (Spanish preferred). Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices for supporting English language learners. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of the classroom. A passion for education and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in the classroom. Valid background check and any required certifications or training as mandated by local or state regulations.
