Job Summary
Christ the King Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable Preschool Classroom Aide to support teachers in creating a loving, nurturing, faith-filled learning environment for young children. The aide works closely with the classroom teacher to help students develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and academically through play-based and age-appropriate learning experiences. At Christ the King Catholic School, preschool is more than preparation for kindergarten. It is a child's introduction to a community of faith, learning, friendship, discovery, and belonging. The Preschool Classroom Aide plays a vital role in supporting teachers and helping children feel safe, known, loved, and valued each day.
Job Responsibilities Support the daily preschool program in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
Help create a warm, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment.
Build positive relationships with children while maintaining professional boundaries.
Assist with classroom activities, learning centers, and small-group instruction.
Encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and a love of learning.
Support children's language, social, emotional, motor, and school-readiness development.
Reinforce kindness, respect, responsibility, and positive behavior.
Supervise students during activities, transitions, outdoor play, meals, and other routines.
Assist children with age-appropriate self-care skills, including handwashing, toileting, cleanup, and organization.
Prepare classroom materials, art projects, and learning resources.
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
Support student arrival, dismissal, and daily transitions.
Communicate student observations and concerns to the classroom teacher.
Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development.
Job Requirements Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Enjoyment of working with young children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with teachers and staff.
Dependable, patient, nurturing, flexible, and positive attitude.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Commitment to supporting Catholic education.
Completion of Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment requirements and background screenings.
Preferred:
Experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children.
Training or coursework in Early Childhood Education or child development.
CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit on the floor or child-sized furniture, participate in indoor and outdoor activities, assist children with personal needs, and lift or move classroom materials as needed.
