Job Description

Paraprofessional staff provide services to children and adults with developmental disabilities or mental health issues in various community locations or in Pride in North Carolina, LLC facilities. Paraprofessional staff may provide a variety of Medicaid and non Medicaid services and are required to read and implement the specific definition(s) they are responsible for providing. Persons employed in these positions are expected to implement person centered plans designed specifically for each consumer. Employees are responsible for overall safety and well being of the consumers while providing services. As such, persons employed in these positions must be knowledgeable of the populations they are serving, must be able to plan and engage in therapeutic and skill building activities, arrange or provide transportation, provide supportive counseling, and be able to intercede with and de-escalate aggressive behaviors. Paraprofessional staff are hourly employees and report to the program manager, or to the designated team leader. A high school diploma is minimally required, however experience in the human service field is preferred. Staff must have a minimum of one year of experience working with adults with mental illness to provide Community Support Team services.
