Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning. Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and implementing behavior management strategies tailored to individual student needs. Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods when necessary. Assist with physical tasks such as mobility support, classroom setup, and basic childcare activities for young children in preschool or toddler care programs. Collaborate with special education professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) ensuring accommodations are met. Maintain confidentiality of student information while supporting inclusive classroom environments that adhere to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Skills Experience working with children in early childhood education, preschool, or childcare settings. Knowledge of special education practices, including classroom support in special education and behavior management techniques for students with behavioral disorders. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorders. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, therapists, parents, and other team members. Ability to assist with curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy or math instruction tailored to diverse learners. Familiarity with classroom management strategies for students with disabilities and experience supporting behavioral needs. Compassionate approach to working with students who have developmental disabilities or special education needs; patience and adaptability are essential.
