Associate or Lead Preschool Teacher We are seeking a warm, dependable, and enthusiastic Associate or Lead Preschool Teacher to join our small, close-knit early childhood education team. This is a one classroom non-profit school with about 23 children. Our program serves preschool-aged children in a Montessori-inspired, nature-based environment. We value hands-on learning, independence, creativity, kindness, and meaningful time outdoors. Our teachers work collaboratively to create a safe, engaging classroom where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. This is a five-day-per-week position with a flexible part-time schedule of approximately 29-35 hours per week . The schedule will include two or three closing shifts until 4:30 p.m., with shorter shifts on the remaining days. We roughly follow the public school calendar. Possible Schedule Two or three days from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Remaining days from approximately 8:00 a.m.-12:00 or 1:00 p.m. Exact schedule may be adjusted based on the needs of the program and the selected candidate Responsibilities Create a warm, nurturing, and respectful environment for preschool-aged children. Assist with planning and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities. Support learning in areas such as practical life, language, math, science, art, music, sensorial exploration, cultural studies, and grace and courtesy. Incorporate Montessori-inspired practices while recognizing and responding to each child's individual needs. Encourage independence, problem-solving, creativity, and positive peer relationships. Supervise children closely and maintain a safe, organized, and inviting classroom environment. Guide children using positive behavior-support and classroom-management strategies. Participate in outdoor and nature-based learning experiences, including our weekly Woodland Wednesday program. Assist children during meals, transitions, rest periods, toileting, outdoor play, and other daily routines. Communicate professionally and respectfully with families and coworkers. Observe children's development and contribute to progress updates and classroom documentation. Support children with varying developmental, behavioral, or learning needs. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all childcare licensing, mandated-reporting, health, and safety requirements. Help with classroom preparation, cleaning, organization, and end-of-day closing responsibilities. Work collaboratively with the director and other teaching staff to support the daily operation of the program. Qualifications Previous experience working in a preschool, childcare center, or early childhood classroom Must meet New Hampshire qualifications for an Associate or Lead Teacher. Understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to engage positively and patiently with young children. Dependable, punctual, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a small team. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to supervise children actively both indoors and outdoors. Comfortable participating in nature-based activities in a variety of weather conditions. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Must complete all required background checks and childcare licensing requirements. Montessori experience is welcomed but not required. Training and support can be provided to the right candidate.
