About the role: Classroom aides play a vital role in the education of students. While individual programs are developed and supervised by classroom teacher, physical education teacher, speech language specialist, and/or substitute teacher according to IEP objectives and guidelines, aides are an important part of the developmental and instructional process. Under the supervision of a certified supervisor of education/principal and direct supervision of a certified special education teacher, physical education teacher, speech language specialist, and/or substitute teacher, classroom aides implement programs emphasizing communication, socialization, appropriate behavior, academics, CBIs, pre-vocational skills, leisure, life skills, etc. Job duties will include, but not be limited, to the following: Assist in maintaining a safe and secure classroom environment that provides classroom structure and a consistent learning pace Observe confidentiality of student/family information Assist in implementing age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate lessons Assist teacher in daily preparation of instructional materials Assist in classroom management and general routine Assist in accurately implementing and following programs (classroom, speech, behavioral, etc.) across a variety of planned activities Assist in offering opportunities for increased socialization skills Assist in offering opportunities for generalization of objectives Utilize effective and varied instructional techniques (e.g., materials, voice tones, correct prompting, reinforcers, etc.) Utilize positive, professional terminology when addressing students and student programming Assist in accurately recording student data/charting Assist in providing a positive and enthusiastic learning environment that facilitates in stimulating students to learn Assist with follow through of support service objectives - examples include, but are not limited to: speech, behavioral, APE, OT, inclusion, etc. Assist in implementing curriculum in accordance with the Core Curriculum Content Standards, the Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectation Standards of Quality, as well as other Department of Education and ASAH guidelines Assist in monitoring student educational outcomes via teacher-made assessments, the New Jersey Alternate Proficiency Assessment (APA), and/or New Jersey standardized assessments Demonstrate knowledge, and correct implementation, of positive behavioral support programs Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and development Offer ideas and suggestions that may benefit the students, the class, and/or the school Follow instructions and/or suggestions as recommended by administrators Follow SEARCH educational policies and philosophy as well as federal and state Department of Education procedures, rules, and regulations.

- All classroom aides are required to have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency and an approved criminal history background check and drug screening.

$18.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
