Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting early learners as a Teacher's Aide/Teacher's Assistant, working one-on-one with a preschool student for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position offers consistent weekly hours in a collaborative educational environment near Elmira, NY. Key Qualifications:
Previous experience working as a paraprofessional or teacher's aide/assistant in a school setting highly valued Behavior management experience or training strongly preferred Comfort and experience with essential caregiving, including assistance with personal hygiene and diaper changing Ability to develop rapport and communicate effectively with young children Patient, adaptable, and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility High school diploma or equivalent required; related certifications or coursework a plus
Your Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated one-on-one support to a preschool student, ensuring safety and engagement throughout the school day Assist with daily classroom routines and support the implementation of behavioral strategies as directed by classroom teachers and special education staff Help reinforce instruction and encourage social/emotional development Support the student's participation in classroom and school activities Collaborate with educators and staff to deliver personalized assistance and document student progress
