Based in Holland, Ohio, Firenation Glass Studio has provided Northwest Ohio and beyond with nearly 25 years of established glassblowing experiences, custom glass products, and stunning works of art created within the walls of our studio. In this role, you will support the production of many glass objects that stock our beautiful gallery space by day, while inspiring and guiding students of all ages through our popular glass experiences by the evenings.

This paid position offers a unique opportunity to develop and refine your skills as a studio glassblowing assistant and instructor. Whether you are assisting experienced artists or guiding beginner workshops, you will gather and work with hot glass every day! Do:

Assist with Hotshop Production glasswork as instructed by the lead Gaffer. Help with a variety of tasks in the Hotshop which include but are not limited to, preparing glass color, reheating glass objects, bringing bits, shaping puntis, fire-polishing items, loading annealers with projects, and gathering glass to make starts for a variety of objects. Successfully introduce workshop participants to the craft of glass and guide them through creating the chosen solid or blown object while maintaining a fun and engaging atmosphere. Teach groups for the public as well as private and corporate events as needed Support the studio's community outreach efforts by assisting in demonstrations, open houses, and other special events. Keep tools and supplies organized and our studio space clean and welcoming Demonstrate proper use of glassblowing tools and equipment, emphasizing safety procedures at all times. Assist with charging the glass furnace as needed

Must-Have Skills:

Prior experience or training in glassblowing or a related studio practice Exceptional communication and customer service skills to work effectively with team members and students Excellent manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and steady hand-eye coordination for precise manipulation of hot, fluid glass Punctual, reliable, and have a professional demeanor with a willingness to learn Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship Self-starter who enjoys staying busy and finding tasks to be done Ability to work safely with high-temperature equipment and follow safety procedures (including first aid and CPR knowledge) Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform routine physical tasks

Schedule:

Estimating 15-30 hours each week at this time. This is a part-time position that has the potential for growth! Assist with Production 2 days a week or more as needed, beginning with Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mornings or afternoons, open to discussion. Teach workshops 2-4 days a week - hours will increase during the holiday season Workshops are listed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings between 5:00-8:30pm. Saturdays between 9:15-3:15. Teach 2-3 Saturdays per month, and help with charging the furnace after classes

Pay and Benefits:
