Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Teacher Assistant to join our educational team, supporting classroom instruction and fostering a positive learning environment for students with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will collaborate closely with lead teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs), assist with lesson delivery, and promote social and emotional development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's educational journeys while gaining valuable experience in early childhood and special education settings. Duties Support lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills, tailored to students' individual needs. Assist with classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and maintaining a safe, organized learning environment. Work directly with students, including those with disabilities or special education needs, providing one-on-one or small group support to enhance their engagement and understanding. Help facilitate communication using tools like American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods for students with communication challenges. Assist in developing and adapting lesson plans to meet diverse learning styles and developmental levels, including early childhood education frameworks like Montessori or preschool curricula. Support students' social-emotional growth by modeling appropriate interactions, managing behavior effectively, and fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents, and specialists to track student progress and contribute to the creation of individualized education plans (IEPs). Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices. Experience working with children in preschool or toddler care settings, preferably within private or specialized schools. Knowledge of special education strategies, including classroom management techniques for students with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy or math instruction tailored for young learners. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable to support effective communication with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and specialists. $16.00 - $26.95 per hour
