Job Description

Experience the rewards of a meaningful career! Join our team as an assistant teacher! We are a licensed childcare center open Monday through Friday. We are looking to hire experienced assistant teachers. The qualified candidate must have at minimum or be willing to obtain upon hire current Pennsylvania clearances, physical & TB test. A high school diploma with a CDA (or CDA Ready) required; preference will be given with an AA or BS in Early Childhood Education or a related field, as well as 2500 hours of clocked childcare experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Candidates will be knowledgeable in the developmental milestones and available to work with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years in an educational setting. Candidates must also be knowledgeable in the DHS health and safety practices and PA Keys requirements and be able to carry them out to the best of his/her ability. Additionally, staff are expected to follow the Building Blocks policies and procedures. Candidates will assist lead teachers in weekly lesson plans with age appropriate activities, which include fine and gross motor skills, music, art, language, literacy, math, social, and personal skills. These plans will be made in conjunction with the approved curriculum and PA Learning Standards. Assistant teachers will assist lead teachers in: maintaining all appropriate records in compliance with DHS and STARS requirements; completing assessments bi-annually for each child; maintaining organization of all supplies in the classroom; caring for the toileting and diapering of all children by following the DHS guidelines; participating in and facilitating the posted cleaning schedule. Candidates must love working with children, have a passion and love of learning, and be interested in becoming a member of our strong team. We are looking to add committed, long-term members to our team.
