Key Qualifications:
Certification or documented experience as a paraprofessional. Previous experience working in a school, particularly with special education or Life Skills programs. Ability to navigate and de-escalate challenging behaviors, maintaining a calm and supportive presence. Reliable attendance and commitment to consistent daily schedules. Strong communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with teachers and school staff. Familiarity with autism spectrum behaviors and proactive techniques to maintain student engagement and safety.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to a student in a Life Skills classroom, focusing on keeping them engaged and safe throughout school hours. Assist teacher and specialists in implementing individualized support plans. Help maintain routines and structure to minimize disruptions and reduce risk of elopement. Support the student with daily tasks, both academic and functional, adapted to their IEP goals. Maintain clear documentation of student progress and behavioral incidents. Model positive social interactions and reinforce appropriate behavior in school settings.
Position Details:
Full-time contract: Monday through Friday, approximately 7:15 am to 3:00 pm (subject to minor changes). 35 hours per week, starting August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027.
