Position Summary The Teacher Assistant works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to provide a high-quality learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of every child. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom instruction, implementing daily activities, supervising children, maintaining a safe and engaging classroom, and communicating professionally with families regarding their child's progress and development. Essential Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing a high-quality State Pre-K curriculum. Support children's academic, social-emotional, and physical development. Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and families. Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions. Assist with observations, documentation, and child assessments. Promote positive behavior using developmentally appropriate practices. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, specialists, and families. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Follow all Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH), Department of Human Services (DHS), and Academy policies and procedures. Qualifications Applicants must possess one of the following: High school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant Training Program OR a minimum of 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Associate degree preferred) OR a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential plus 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field Applicants must also have: CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain) RIELDS certificate applicable to the position, or willingness to complete within two years of employment Strong communication and interpersonal skills A positive attitude and collaborative mindset A genuine passion for working with preschool-aged children Physical Requirements Applicants must be able to: Lift up to 40 pounds Sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, and reach throughout the day Participate in active play, outdoor activities, and movement with children Maintain visual and hearing acuity necessary to supervise children safely Schedule Full-Time Monday-Friday August through June (School-Year Position) 8-hour shifts
