Opened in August 2024, ACAR serves students in grades K-7 and will grow one grade level per year until becoming a full K-12 institution. American Classical Academy Rutherford:

To train the minds and develop character in students through a content-rich Classical Education in the liberal arts and sciences utilizing instruction in the principles of moral practices and civic virtue. Special Education Aide provides support for students with special education needs, including both within the general education classroom and in small group settings. Lower School Special Education Aide is also exemplars of ACAR's Virtues and actively seek to develop strong moral character in students. Key Responsibilities Provide instructional support to students receiving special education services under the direction of the Special Education Teacher. Assist with the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and interventions outlined in student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Support students individually and in small groups to reinforce academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills. Assist with classroom management, student supervision, and the implementation of behavioral support plans. Collect and maintain student progress data and documentation as directed by the Special Education Teacher. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information. Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher and school staff to support student success. Perform other duties related to special education services as assigned by the Special Education Teacher, Director of Student Services, or school administration.

Note:

The Special Education Aide works exclusively under the supervision of the assigned Special Education Teacher and is not assigned as a general classroom aide except when supporting the delivery of special education services. Qualities and characteristics of a successful Lower School (K-6)

Teacher:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Tennessee fingerprint clearance and approval to work with children.
• Ability to work effectively with students who have diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
