Job Description

Whitson Elementary School $21.61-28.96/hour 15.5 hours/week, Afterschool until 5:45 p.m. September 21, 2026 - June 2027, as set by the after-school calendar Monday-Thursday after school with students, Friday Staff Inservice(timing varies)

General Summary:
Classified Staff will help execute and supervise out-of-school activities with students. Our goal is to raise literacy and math achievement in grades first through fourth and improve academic and non-academic performance, while providing a safe and supportive environment and build and strengthen relationships with students.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Help students successfully engage in program activities including academic interventions and a variety of enrichment activities Help students understand at least one of the following: mathematics, reading, writing and science concepts, skills and processes appropriate for their age and state academic expectations Engage and inspire students to participate in and enjoy the Community Learning Center Program Interact in a professional manner with parents, school staff and other CLC personnel to advance the goals of the program, including parent support events Manage student behaviors positively and productively, utilizing the school's student management systems and YPQ A framework. If students are not responding positively to redirection, paraeducators can ask for guidance from the site coordinator and program director Collaborate with Program Director, Site Coordinators, 21st CCLC Teachers and Family Coordinator to host monthly family nights Van Certified and ability to drive a van with students Ability to obtain Food Handlers Permit and First Aid Certification Required Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent Must obtain a food handlers permit, first aid certification and van driving training Must meet one of the following: Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) Paraeducator assessment Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates ability to relate positively and productively with diverse youth and adults Strong communication skills and ability to work as a collaborative team member Ability to keep accurate records and use computer technology and management software as needed Ability to understand, speak, read and write Spanish is a plus.
