Our Teacher/Facilitators guide students through their coursework, answer questions, break down challenging concepts, and provide one-on-one support when needed. We want someone who can recognize when a student is struggling, meet them where they are, and find a way to help the material click. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ What You'll Do As a 6th Grade Teacher/Facilitator, you'll help create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and becoming more confident learners.
Your responsibilities will include:
Guide students through an already-established 6th-grade curriculum Assist with math, English/language arts, science, and social studies Provide individualized and small-group academic support Break down difficult concepts and explain them in ways students can understand Monitor student progress and recognize when additional support is needed Help students stay organized, engaged, and on task Encourage problem-solving and independent learning rather than simply giving students the answers Build positive and appropriate relationships with students Maintain an organized, respectful, and encouraging learning environment Communicate student progress, needs, and concerns with school administration Collaborate with fellow teachers, facilitators, and staff _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Who We're Looking For You don't have to fit one exact mold to be a great fit for this position. Our ideal candidate is:
Patient, positive, and approachable Dependable and consistently available Tuesday through Thursday Comfortable working with middle-school-aged students Able to explain the same concept in different ways when necessary Comfortable assisting with multiple 6th-grade subjects Able to balance helping students with encouraging independence Organized and comfortable supporting multiple students Comfortable with computers and online learning platforms A strong communicator and team player Genuinely invested in helping students build confidence and succeed Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher Previous K-12 teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or classroom experience Experience working with middle-school-aged students Ability to confidently assist with 6th-grade coursework Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience supporting students with different learning styles or educational needs Traditional classroom teaching experience is certainly welcomed, but we also value relevant tutoring, mentoring, educational, and student-support experience. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Schedule & Additional Opportunities The regular schedule is: Tuesday-Thursday | 8:00 AM-2:30 PM Fridays are tutoring days at Pensacola Learning Academy. Please submit your current resume through Indeed and answer the following four questions: 1. Are you consistently available Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 AM-2:30 PM? 2. Would you be interested in optional Friday tutoring hours if additional hours are available? 3. Briefly tell us about your experience working with middle-school-aged students or your experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, education, or a similar setting. 4. What strengths or experience would you bring to this role when helping a student who is struggling to understand their coursework?
