Our instruction is structured, systematic, and focused on helping students develop strong academic skills while building confidence. TLC is led by a Masters-Level Certified Barton Tutor, and our tutors receive training and ongoing support. Position Overview We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Literacy & Dyslexia Intervention Specialist. A background in education is preferred, but prior experience with dyslexia intervention is not required. We provide structured, paid training in the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This is an in-person position in St. Petersburg, Florida , working one-on-one with students in both school settings and TLC tutoring locations. Responsibilities Provide individualized reading and spelling intervention to students Follow structured lesson procedures carefully and consistently Track student progress and maintain accurate session records Communicate professionally with families and TLC staff Participate in paid training and professional development Work toward Barton Tutor Certification as part of employment Qualifications Background or strong interest in education; elementary, reading, or special education experience is preferred Patient, dependable, professional, and attentive to detail Comfortable working one-on-one with children Able to follow a structured instructional program consistently Available for both school-day and after-school tutoring Available at least four weekday afternoons Interested in a longer-term position of approximately one year or more Willing to work in person at TLC locations and local schools Schedule This is a part-time position, generally 10-20 hours per week . The position requires a combination of weekday morning/school-day availability and after-school availability. Compensation & Training $30 per hour for tutoring $21 per hour during training Paid Barton training and professional development Flexible part-time schedule This position can be an excellent fit for a current or future educator, or for someone transitioning into structured literacy who wants to develop specialized skills in dyslexia intervention.
