Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects during and after school Support classroom instruction alongside teachers to reinforce lessons and manage transitions Build positive, mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional development Track and report student progress using basic data and observation tools Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe classroom and school environment Engage families and community partners through events and outreach as directed by the school Participate in regular training, coaching, and professional development sessions Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to plan and deliver student support activities Assist with school-wide initiatives, assemblies, and enrichment programs Model professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to service and equity Tutoring in math and reading Classroom support and management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and documentation Communication with students, families, and staff Cultural humility and equity-focused practice Time management and reliability Team collaboration in diverse groups Conflict de-escalation and student support Basic computer and office software skills Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps service term Demonstrated interest in youth development, education, or social justice
