Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support students' social-emotional development and classroom engagement Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver student interventions Assist with classroom management and a positive learning environment Lead or support after-school programs and enrichment activities Track and document student progress and intervention data Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage families and community partners in student support activities Model City Year's core values and commitment to diversity and inclusion Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentoring Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (written and verbal) Team collaboration Time management and reliability Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Conflict resolution and de-escalation Basic technology skills (e.g., Google Workspace, email, data entry) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Must be at least 18 years old U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (for AmeriCorps eligibility) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Commitment to full-time AmeriCorps service term Interest or experience in education, youth development, or community service
