Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Support students' social-emotional learning and goal setting Assist classroom teachers with instruction, classroom management, and student engagement Lead or support after-school programs and enrichment activities Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Participate in school-wide initiatives and events that build a positive school climate Collaborate closely with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff Engage in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with supervisors about student progress and service goals Model professionalism, inclusivity, and a commitment to social justice in school communities Tutoring in math and English/language arts Classroom support and management assistance Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data entry and progress monitoring Lesson and activity planning support Facilitation of group activities and workshops Communication with students, teachers, and team members Time management and organization Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Use of common office and education technology (e.g., Google Workspace, email, learning platforms) Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for working in schools Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)
