ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

: The position of Education Faculty reports to the Dean of General Education and the Vice President of Instruction.

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB

: The Education Faculty member will be a dynamic and engaging member of the Morgan Community College (MCC) faculty, inspiring current and prospective students to explore the broad field of education and pursue meaningful careers in the profession. Through high-quality instruction, advising, recruitment, and community outreach, the faculty member will promote the Education program, support enrollment growth, and encourage students to prepare for immediate workforce opportunities or transfer to a university for advanced study. Most importantly, the faculty member will empower students to achieve their educational and career goals. Instructional assignments will focus on Education and/or Early Childhood Education, based on the faculty member's qualifications and expertise as determined by the Vice President of Instruction. The faculty member will utilize innovative teaching methods, technologies, and instructional media designed to engage learners from diverse educational, cultural, and experiential backgrounds, ensuring all students have the opportunity to master course outcomes and achieve academic success. The successful candidate will demonstrate creativity, a commitment to teaching excellence, and a passion for continuous improvement through the assessment of student learning and instructional effectiveness. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will contribute to the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of MCC's Education programs. Responsibilities include ensuring curriculum relevance, academic rigor, and alignment with institutional priorities, transfer pathways, and workforce needs; coordinating course offerings; and supporting the growth and assessment of the College's Education programs, including the Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Technical Education and Elementary Education. The position also cultivates strong partnerships with K-12 schools, early childhood education providers, higher education institutions, and other community stakeholders to advance student success and address the evolving educational and workforce needs of the region. Instruction may be delivered through a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, synchronous online, remote, and hybrid formats utilizing Zoom and the College's learning management system. The faculty member will mentor and collaborate with part-time instructors, support accreditation and assessment activities, and contribute to program quality, student success initiatives, and strategic enrollment efforts. Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend courses. Opportunities to assist in the development of new courses and curriculum, as well as teach during the summer semester, may be available for additional compensation. The Education Faculty member shall embrace the College's guiding principles of integrity, respect, open and honest communication, and collaboration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

: 75% of the faculty member's time is spent teaching or in activities related to teaching such as grading, preparation, development of term schedule, curriculum review/ revision, development of course outlines/syllabi, textbooks election/ adoption and student advising/recruitment, working with student organizations, marketing and recruitment staff, and maintaining office hours, etc. 15% of the faculty member's time is spent attending instructional meetings and serving on college and Colorado Community College System committees and project teams related to accreditation, curriculum, leadership, and others as identified by the faculty member and the supervisor. 5% of the faculty member's time is spent working with the Education Department Student Liaison to recruit and advise students in the BAS degree(s) and transfer degrees, which entails working closely with the marketing department and engaging in community outreach activities throughout the region. 3% of the faculty member's time is spent on other duties as assigned by the Dean of General Education and/or the Vice President of Instruction. 1% -- Based on the functions, this position is identified as a Campus Security Authority. As a Campus Security Authority, the incumbent in this position is required to report allegations of Clery Act crimes that they become aware of to the Vice President of Student Services at Morgan Community College. Attends training pertaining to these responsibilities as required. 1% All MCC employees are responsible for ensuring their work and educational environments are free from illegal discrimination, sexual harassment, and related retaliation. When alleged or suspected discrimination, sexual harassment, or retaliation is experienced or observed by, or made known to, an MCC employee, the employee is responsible for reporting that information to one of the following individuals: the Title IX Coordinator and the Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Attends training pertaining to these responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

: Master's degree in education or early childhood education or related field with 18 graduate credits in education from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience (or equivalent part-time teaching experience) in formal classroom environments. Must have 2000 hours of work-related experience and be willing to maintain CTE credentials in Early Childhood Education (relevant to qualifications) Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong technological skills and experience using MS Office suite. Must be willing and able to travel as required by position needs. Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessitated by course schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate degree in education or related field from a regionally accredited institution. Prior community college experience preferred. Experience with distance education. Full-time teaching experience in higher education. Demonstrated success in working with students from diverse backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION MAKING

: The faculty member will be responsible for teaching education courses relevant to qualifications. Primary job activities will include developing and evaluating curricular offerings and assessing student academic achievement in accordance with College and CCCS standards. The faculty member will work collaboratively with faculty and staff throughout the institution and across the service area to deliver education coursework. In addition to providing content expertise, the faculty member's responsibilities will include problem resolution, research of policy and procedurally related matters, and coordination of functions for education courses and students. The faculty member shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.
