JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for teaching the assigned career and technical subject(s) to students at a correctional institution/facility. Duties include but will not be limited to the following: Plans, develops, and conducts classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement. Supervises inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records. Ensures order, discipline, tool control, and safety in the classroom and/or shop. Evaluates student progress, administers grades and tests, and counsels individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns. Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program. Salary Incentives:
Applicants in possession of a masters degree (official transcripts) may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually. Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 hiring bonus.
REQUIREMENTS
Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required. A high school diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years experience in the CTE subject area being taught; or Possession of current licensure or certification(s) in the CTE being taught or a postsecondary certificate of completion (must submit transcript/certificate of completion) may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Must hold the applicable subject area license or industry certification or be willing to possess within 12 months of hire. Possess or be eligible to apply for a Temporary Florida Department of Corrections Educators Certificate or if applicable a temporary State of Florida Educator's Certificate.
Special Note :
Successful applicants will be issued a Florida Department of Corrections CTE Temporary Educators Certificate. Applicants will have 5 years to obtain the Department of Corrections Educators Professional Certificate. A Department of Corrections Educators Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of the Temporary Certificate. BACKGROUND
SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
