TITLE:
High School Teaching, Manufacturing, CNC and Machining Technology Program Position type:
Instructional:
Manufacturing, CNC and Machining Technology Instruct high school students in the basic skills related to fabrication, metalworking, CNC programming and machining technology. Minimum of Associate's Degree in related field and/or a combination of education, training and tested experience is required. Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering is preferred .Minimum of 5 years industry experience is preferred. Must meet all qualifications for the appropriate license through the Illinois State Board of Education. Valid Professional Educator License that is current and registered in DuPage County with endorsement in Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology and Trades (METT)—Machine Tool Technology/ Machinist. (Candidates with valid ISBE teaching licenses must also have at least two years of work experience). or Meet ISBE Requirements for either a Career and Technical Education License or a

There are four different ways to obtain a CTE teaching license in the state of Illinois.
They are:
Option 1: Current Licensed Teacher (Professional Educator License - PEL) If you already hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a teaching endorsement, you can add a CTE endorsement by either: Passing the applicable CTE content exam, or Completing 18 semester hours of coursework in the CTE content area.
Best for:
Current teachers who want to transition into CTE. Option 2: Industry Professional with Some College (ELS-CTE) If you do not have a teaching license, but have industry experience and college coursework, you may qualify for an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-CTE).
Requirements include:
At least 60 college semester hours from an accredited college or technical institution, and 2,000 documented hours of relevant industry work experience in the first endorsement area. Additional endorsement areas require 1,000 hours each.
Best for:
Skilled professionals who have some college but are not licensed teachers. Option 3: Industry Professional with Extensive Experience (ELS-CTEP) If you do not have a teaching license and do not have 60 college credit hours, you may qualify for a Provisional Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-CTEP).
Requirements include:
8,000 documented hours of relevant industry experience (approximately four years of full-time work) in the first endorsement area. Additional endorsement areas require 1,000 hours each. This pathway allows experienced tradespeople and industry professionals to enter teaching even without significant college coursework. The hiring school district must certify that it could not find a fully licensed teacher for the position. Option 4: Short-Term Approval (Current Teachers Only) Teachers who already hold a PEL may obtain a three-year Short-Term CTE Approval by: Passing the content exam, or Completing 9 semester hours in the content area. This is intended as a temporary pathway while completing full endorsement requirements.
