The Weld Engineer supports welding, brazing, machining, sheet metal manufacturing, process development, production troubleshooting, and quality improvement across the program. The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing engineering experience and a solid understanding of welding processes, GD&T, engineering drawings, production documentation, and aerospace quality requirements. Schedule On-site position in Windsor Locks, CT. 2nd shift, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, approximately 40 hours per week (typical 8-hour workdays plus lunch). This is a shop-floor role requiring extensive walking and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Approximately 5% travel may be required. Compensation $125,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience. What You'll Do The Weld Engineer supports the restart and manufacturing of legacy heat exchanger products, working closely with Manufacturing Engineering and shop floor personnel to develop and improve manufacturing processes. This includes creating, modifying, and maintaining work instructions, operation sheets, and assembly documentation, and developing and updating process operation and assembly sheets, preferably using Solumina. This role interprets engineering drawings and specifications, applying GD&T requirements to production processes, and supports manufacturing activities involving aluminum and steel brazing, welding, machining, and sheet metal processes. The Weld Engineer develops, marks up, edits, and updates welding process specifications, develops welding standards, materials requirements, weld joint designs, and welding processes, and supports welding procedure qualifications, supplier qualifications, and product testing. The Weld Engineer investigates welding-related production issues and implements corrective actions to improve product performance and productivity, develops repair procedures, and evaluates manufacturing flaws to determine fitness-for-service. This includes troubleshooting welding and manufacturing problems through cause-and-effect analysis, developing and implementing inspection methods and techniques, and supporting product quality and process improvement initiatives. The Weld Engineer manages multiple engineering projects and process-related activities through completion and required approval processes, tracks project actions, and follows up on open tasks. This role analyzes manufacturing data and prepares presentations identifying productivity improvements and cost-saving opportunities, and communicates technical information across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 5 to 8 years of relevant engineering and manufacturing experience Strong experience with manufacturing processes, methods, and techniques Experience with welding and brazing processes, particularly involving aluminum and steel Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing and blueprint interpretation Experience developing and troubleshooting production processes Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple work streams and drive tasks to completion Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa sponsorship, now or in the future Preferred Qualifications Experience with sheet metal manufacturing Heat exchanger manufacturing experience, particularly in an aerospace environment Strong welding process development and qualification experience Experience with Teamcenter Experience with NX or other 3D modeling software Familiarity with Solumina Familiarity with SAP AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification Familiarity with NADCAP welding and brazing accreditation requirements Compensation and Benefits Base salary: $125,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Short- and long-term disability coverage Paid time off Employee referral program To apply, submit your resume for consideration.
