Job Description

Akkodis is seeking a CAD Designer for a Contract to Hire with a client in Santa Fe Springs, CA. The ideal candidate must have proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D and Civil 3D to create and revise detailed civil and structural plan sets for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
Rate Range:
$35/Hour to $55/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
CAD Designer Job Responsibilities include:
Develop and revise civil, structural, and equipment layout drawings for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Collaborate with engineers, estimators, and project teams to create accurate site plans, grading designs, and construction documentation. Produce grading surfaces, civil details, foundation layouts, and equipment elevation drawings based on project requirements and site conditions. Review and incorporate survey, TOPO, ALTA, and client-provided drawings to ensure design accuracy and compliance with project standards. Prepare quantity takeoffs and material estimates from civil and structural plans to support project planning and execution. Ensure all drawings adhere to CAD standards, manufacturer installation guidelines, and engineering specifications while maintaining project documentation and design records.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; additional technical training in CAD Design, Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field preferred. Minimum 2+ years of solar civil design experience with utility-scale solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D, Civil 3D, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with GIS is a plus. Experience creating civil and structural plan sets, grading plans, site layouts, foundation details, and quantity takeoffs for renewable energy projects. Pay Details:
