Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our innovative engineering team . In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and comprehensive technical drawings, 3D models, and schematics that support the design and fabrication of metal reflective insulation systems and products. Your expertise in CAD software and mechanical drafting will be instrumental in translating concepts into detailed designs that meet project specifications and industry standards. Duties Develop detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other CAD tools. Create piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and system layouts adhering to ASME codes & standards. Assist in designing metal reflective insulation for systems and equipment including piping, pressure vessels, generators, reactors and structural elements while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Collaborate with engineers and project teams to review designs, perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and optimize system performance through detailed modeling. Generate CAD documentation for manufacturing, construction, or construction support including technical reports and assembly instructions. Support BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes to integrate design data into construction workflows. Maintain organized CAD files using PDM (Product Data Management) software and ensure version control throughout project cycles. Qualifications Proven experience with 2D CAD drafting and 3D modeling for product or system design in mechanical engineering contexts. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent tools. Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), system design standards, and ASME codes & standards. Familiarity with P&ID creation, schematics development, and BIM tools for integrated project delivery. Experience with FEA analysis techniques for structural or thermal performance evaluation preferred. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation accurately. Mechanical knowledge combined with construction experience is highly desirable to ensure practical application of designs. Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear documentation and reports related to CAD projects. Experience with LiDAR scans and other geospatial models is a plus.
