ECS Environmental Solutions

CAD Designer

Job Description

CAD / Solidworks Designer About ECS ECS Environmental Solutions designs and manufactures custom air pollution control and odor control systems for industrial and municipal clients across North America. Our systems — wet scrubbers, carbon adsorbers, biofilters, FRP ductwork, and fans — are engineered and built in-house at our Belton, Texas facility. Every project is custom. No two are the same. The Role The CAD / SolidWorks Designer develops accurate 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, layouts, and technical documentation used to manufacture and install custom FRP equipment and systems. You will work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Manufacturing to turn engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable designs. If you want to simply create drawings without understanding how they will be manufactured, assembled, or installed, this is not the right role. If you want to take ownership of the design and help turn engineering concepts into real equipment, it is. What You'll Do Translate engineering requirements, sketches, specifications, and vendor information into accurate CAD models and drawings Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and project documentation. Review designs for fit, form, function, manufacturability, and installation; identify potential interferences and clearance issues. Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing and communicate design questions or concerns early. Maintain accurate files, revisions, and documentation through PDM/document-control procedures Support engineering changes, drawing revisions, standardization, and continuous improvement Create and modify 3D SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and models Produce fabrication, assembly, general arrangement, detail, and spool drawings Develop models and drawings for FRP vessels, ductwork, piping, fittings, supports, flanges, nozzles, and water panels with PVC fittings What We're Looking For Experience with SolidWorks or a comparable 3D CAD platform Ability to create and modify mechanical parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Understanding of basic mechanical design and manufacturing principles Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork Ability to manage assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate schedule concerns Preferred but not required: Experience with FRP / fiberglass manufacturing or design SolidWorks PDM or AutoCAD experience Experience with vessels, tanks, ductwork, piping, or mechanical equipment Experience in a custom manufacturing or job-shop environment Knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, assembly processes, or
ASTM/ASME/ANSI
standards Career Levels We consider candidates at all experience levels. Placement and responsibilities are based on demonstrated technical capability, design knowledge, independence, problem-solving ability, manufacturing understanding, and ownership — not simply years on a resume. Junior CAD Designer — Building CAD and mechanical design fundamentals while learning our products, processes, and standards. CAD Designer — Independently handling routine design assignments and complete drawing packages with limited supervision. Senior CAD Designer — Independently developing more complex designs and serving as a technical resource to the team. Lead CAD Designer — Providing advanced design capability, technical guidance, mentoring, and support for complex projects and design standards.
