Premier Coil Solutions is seeking an experienced Mechanical CAD Designer to join our growing Engineering team. As a Mechanical CAD Designer , you'll work alongside an experienced team of engineers to develop innovative equipment, improve existing products, and support projects from concept through manufacturing. What You'll Do Develop detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies for mechanical skids and industrial equipment. Create fabrication-ready 2D drawings , including dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, material specifications, and notes. Design structural frames, equipment supports, brackets, platforms, guards, mounting systems, and miscellaneous mechanical components. Incorporate equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, instrumentation, electrical enclosures, and piping into skid layouts. Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and component lists. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, vendor drawings, and field measurements. Modify existing designs and drawings based on engineering changes, fabrication requirements, and field conditions. Work with engineers to develop practical and manufacturable designs. Coordinate with fabrication and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs can be efficiently built. Perform basic dimensional checks, clearances, fit-up checks, and interference detection within CAD assemblies. Maintain drawing and model revisions in accordance with company standards. Assist with design reviews and resolve mechanical design issues. Support projects from initial concept through fabrication and installation. Support prototype builds, factory acceptance testing, and continuous product improvement initiatives. Evaluate customer requirements and incorporate design improvements that enhance product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and safety. Research and implement innovative design solutions while maintaining company engineering standards. Visit the manufacturing floor to support production and ensure designs are accurately translated into finished products. Required Qualifications 3-7 years of mechanical CAD/design experience preferred. Strong experience with 3D mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar. Experience designing skids, equipment frames, industrial machinery, or fabricated mechanical assemblies is highly desirable. Understanding of structural steel, plate, tubing, pipe supports, fasteners, and welded fabrication. Ability to produce accurate and detailed manufacturing/fabrication drawings. Familiarity with GD&T and general mechanical drafting practices. Ability to read and interpret mechanical, structural, piping, and vendor drawings. Strong understanding of mechanical fit-up, clearances, materials, and manufacturability. Experience creating and maintaining BOMs. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design tasks. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with engineers and fabrication personnel. Preferred Qualifications Industrial equipment or process-skid design Welded structural assemblies Piping and pipe-support design Equipment layout and packaging Pressure vessels and tanks Pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation Hydraulic or pneumatic systems Field measurements and as-built drawings Design for fabrication and installation Experience working with ASME, AWS, or other applicable industry standards Experience designing heavy equipment, industrial machinery, mobile equipment, or custom manufacturing systems. Experience with weldments, hydraulic systems, structural steel, and fabrication. Oil & gas, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, mining equipment, or similar industry experience is a plus, but not required. What We're Looking For The successful candidate is more than a CAD operator. You should be able to look at a design and understand how it will actually be fabricated, assembled, transported, and installed.
