We are in search of those who thrive to be a difference maker: Position Brief The Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining detailed technical drawings and models for overhead crane systems, runway structures, lifting equipment, and related components. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and field personnel to support the design, manufacturing, installation, and modification of overhead crane systems while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for overhead cranes, hoists, runway systems, monorails, structural supports, and custom lifting devices. Develop fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for manufacturing and field construction teams. Assist engineers with crane layouts, structural modifications, equipment integrations, and project documentation. Perform site measurement reviews and incorporate field data into design drawings. Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and material take-offs for projects. Revise existing drawings to reflect design changes, retrofits, repairs, and as-built conditions. Coordinate with project managers, sales teams, fabricators, and installers to ensure drawings meet project requirements and schedules. Maintain drawing standards, file organization, revision controls, and documentation in accordance with company procedures. Verify designs comply with OSHA, CMAA, ANSI, ASME, and applicable local building code requirements. Support quotation and proposal development by preparing preliminary layouts and conceptual drawings. Participate in project meetings and provide technical drafting support throughout project execution. Assist with identifying design improvements that enhance manufacturability, installation efficiency, and safety. Required Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or related field. 2+ years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in material handling, structural steel, industrial equipment, or overhead crane systems. Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, or similar 3D modeling software is preferred. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and drafting standards. Ability to read and interpret structural, mechanical, and architectural drawings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
