Part-Time with a clear path to Full-Time Build the Extraordinary with Calaway Designs Calaway Designs is a design-driven fabrication studio, dedicated to architectural craftsmanship and specializing in high-end custom metal and woodwork. From intricate staircases and custom doors to architectural metal packages and luxury furnishings, we bring exceptional design to life. As we scale our operations to fit our new 12,000 sq. ft. facility, we are looking for a versatile CAD Designer to join our team. You will work alongside our talented Lead CAD Designer aiding with the production of detailed CAD drawings for our designs. The RoleThis is a supporting design role ideal for someone looking to grow within a high-end architectural fabrication shop. While our Lead CAD Designer handles complex mechanisms and assemblies, you will focus on turning design details into accurate, shop-ready production drawings. You will also be involved in producing flat-file DXFs for laser cutting/waterjet, designing straightforward interior frame structures and will have the benefit of collaborating and receiving mentorship for our skilled lead designer. Digital Presence:

In addition to your CAD responsibilities, a strong secondary skill for this role is web development and e-commerce experience. If you have the ability to build out company websites and have the skills to develop an online store for our products, that is a major advantage.

Key Responsibilities Design & Drafting:

Create precise 2D/3D CAD drawings in SolidWorks, ensuring they are fully shop-ready for our metal and wood shops.

Production Support:

Generate flat-file DXFs, component drawings, and standard framing details.

File Organization & Quality Control:

Maintain clean, standardized CAD file structures. Review and cross-check drawings with our lead designer to ensure accuracy through a peer-review process before presenting them to management for final approval.

Web & E-Commerce:

Assist with website improvements and the development/maintenance of an online store.

Collaboration:

Work closely with our Lead Designer, Project Manager, and shop leads to ensure smooth handoffs from design and fabrication to install.

What We're Looking For Experience:

1-3+ years in CAD design within a manufacturing, metal/wood fabrication, or architectural construction environment. SolidWorks experience is strongly preferred.

Web Skills:

Experience with website design, development, and e-commerce platforms (a strong secondary asset).

Technical Skill:

Proven ability to translate concepts into accurate digital designs and generate clean flat-file DXFs.

Detail-Oriented & Methodical:

A rigorous approach to dimensions, file organization, and quality control. We are looking for a candidate who can be proactive and aid in catching errors before they hit the shop floor.

Communication & Coachability:

Eager to learn, participate in peer reviews, and collaborate effectively with a growing team.

Autonomy:
