CNC Process Engineer

Job Description

Shift:
Monday-Friday:
7am-4pm
Salary:
$75,000-$95,000/yr based on experience. Can be negotiable for the right experience. Duties and Responsibilities Develop, program, and optimize CNC machining programs for multi-axis equipment used in steel fabrication operations. Establish machine setup requirements, tooling selection, fixturing methods, work holding solutions, and cutting parameters to maximize efficiency and quality. Troubleshoot and resolve machining, programming, and process-related issues to minimize downtime and improve productivity. Validate new CNC programs and process changes through machine prove-outs, first-piece inspections, and production trials. Maintain accurate machine documentation, setup sheets, tooling specifications, work instructions, routers, and bills of material. Collaborate with production personnel to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, increase machine utilization, and eliminate waste. Recommend and implement advanced machining technologies, tooling solutions, and automation opportunities to improve safety, quality, and operational performance. Support new product introduction activities by developing manufacturing methods, estimating machining requirements, and establishing production-ready processes. Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to improve process capability, reduce scrap, and enhance operational efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions related to machining quality, dimensional variation, tooling performance, and process capability issues. Analyze machine performance, cycle times, and production data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and throughput improvements. Develop and implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions that improve process consistency and product quality. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards while supporting ergonomic improvements and reduction of manual material handling. Provide technical support and training to machine operators, setup technicians, and production personnel regarding CNC programming, tooling, and machining best practices. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience. Four years of applicable work experience on multi axis CNC machines Working knowledge of lean principles and of Six Sigma methodology. Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook. Must be able to communicate both orally and effectively with various members of the organization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Speak, write, and comprehend conversational English. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 20 lbs. as needed. Ability to bend, stand, climb, twist and stoop for extended periods of time. Ability to perform sedentary work including sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses. Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision. Travel as needed to accomplish desired results. Overnight travel may be required occasionally. Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which includes but is not limited to exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, vibration from use of equipment and the following:
