The Opportunity:
Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Project Engineer III to join our team at our Kenai, Alaska, location. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Lead the development of projects related to long-range engineering plans, construction work plans, protection studies, material specifications, and engineering procedures.
  • Direct and/or facilitate all phases of project development and execution: from planning and preliminary engineering though procurement, construction, and startup of approved projects, and to administer and/or facilitate administration of contacts awarded in support of these projects.
Manage the project lifecycle to ensure completion on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable design, regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Provide project management and engineering support to multiple departments within the association.
  • Develop, re-evaluate, and modify construction plans and budgets to support planned transmission, generation, distribution, and support facility work, subject to approval by the Manager of Engineering.
  • Develop, implement, and manage project construction as assigned.
Coordinate plans and designs for utility improvements, ensuring continued reliable electrical energy supplies and delivery.
Additional Information:
What makes you a good fit:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
  • Four years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience required.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Engineering Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam from a state licensing board, preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license from a state licensing board, preferred.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
