Heavy Highway/Civil Project Engineer

Job Description

A well-established Ohio heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Project Engineer to lead roadway, bridge, and public infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout. Position Overview The Project Manager will oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, field coordination, subcontractors, materials, equipment and owner relationships. The ideal candidate understands Ohio heavy highway construction and can deliver safe, profitable projects on schedule. Key Responsibilities Lead heavy highway, roadway, bridge, and civil projects from startup through final closeout. Develop project strategies, CPM schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans. Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and materials. Monitor production, costs, change orders, contractual requirements, and project milestones. Review plans, specifications, estimates, contracts, and other construction documents. Maintain strong communication with owners, inspectors, engineers, agencies, and internal teams. Identify project risks and resolve scheduling, cost, quality, and constructability issues. Promote compliance with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and project-specific procedures. Ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards. Qualifications 2-3 years of project management or supervisory experience in heavy civil construction. Demonstrated experience with highway, roadway, bridge, or public infrastructure projects. Working knowledge of estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction methods, and contract administration. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents. Strong leadership, organization, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Experience working with ODOT projects is strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is preferred. Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, or CAD is beneficial.
