The City and County of Honolulu is looking for a Drafting Technician I to join the Department of Planning and Permitting , Site Development Division, Wastewater Branch. In this role, you'll learn about Honolulu's sewer system and construction requirements while assisting the public with questions about sewer plans, permits, and construction requirements. You'll also help maintain sewer system maps and records and support projects through office and field assignments.
What You Will Do:
Assist the public with questions regarding sewer construction requirements and the interpretation of sewer plans. Issue Sewer Connection Permits and prepare work orders and sketches as required. Receive complaints and prepare work orders for required investigations. Assist with preparing record maps of the Municipal Sewer System for the general public. Intake, record, and file incoming construction plans.
Special Working Conditions:
Occasional exposure to traffic hazards.

There is room for career growth as you work to progressively advance in this job series from a Drafting Technician I up to a Drafting Technician V, with opportunity to compete for promotion to the supervisory Drafting Technician VI position. Opportunity to progress up the career ladder and/or qualify for other higher-level positions will depend on satisfactory work experience and demonstration of applicable knowledge and skills. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
: Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics and mechanical drawing . Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT
: Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED
