Join our team as an Engineering Technician III and play a key role in delivering complex engineering and construction projects that shape our community. The Engineering Technician III provides expert technical engineering support and serves as a lead technician for assigned programs, initiatives, and complex engineering projects. This position coordinates the planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation of comprehensive engineering projects while managing schedules, resources, documentation, and stakeholder communication. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to serve as a trusted resource to engineering staff, contractors, and project partners. Key Responsibilities Review, analyze, and make technical decisions related to engineering projects, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, codes, specifications, and contract requirements. Conduct and oversee field inspections to evaluate project progress, workmanship, and adherence to approved designs, contract documents, and applicable standards. Apply advanced technical engineering skills to specialized tasks, project phases, and segments of engineering assignments. Serve as a lead technician for assigned programs, initiatives, and complex engineering projects. Coordinate project schedules, resources, activities, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery. Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to Engineering Technicians and serve as a technical resource and subject-matter expert. Communicate technical and non-technical information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with engineers, contractors, outside agencies, and members of the public. Maintain accurate, complete, and organized project documentation and records. Demonstrate strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy. Travel throughout the City to inspect worksites, construction activities, and project locations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Required:
Associate's degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in engineering and construction activities; or High school diploma or GED with an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Preferred Qualifications Preparing engineering plans, designs, specifications, and bid packages. Using computer-aided design (CAD) and other electronic drafting and design systems. Advanced use of engineering-related software applications. Coordinating complex engineering or construction projects. Conducting construction inspections and interpreting plans, specifications, and contract documents. Pay:
$74,007.00 - $97,784.39 per year
