Architectural Designer - Luxury Custom Residential Design and 3D Visualization

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
This is a mid-level position. This is not an entry-level or training role. The successful candidate must be capable of stepping into active luxury residential projects and contributing immediately with limited day-to-day direction. Required Professional Experience 5
  • 7 years of professional architectural Interior design experience, with a minimum of 5 years working directly on custom, high-end, or luxury residential projects.
Proven experience developing projects from conceptual design and schematic design through design development, and construction documentation. Experience working on large-scale custom homes, estates, luxury renovations, or architecturally significant residential projects. Strong understanding of residential detailing, materials, and proportions. Demonstrated experience coordinating architectural work with lighting, specialty contractors, and other consultants. Advanced Technical Skills Candidates must be highly proficient and able to work independently in the following: Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • advanced production and documentation capabilities Lumion
  • advanced photorealistic rendering and animation Adobe Photoshop
  • advanced image editing and architectural post-production Adobe InDesign
  • professional presentation and client presentation development Adobe Lightroom
  • professional image enhancement and post-production Candidates who require significant training in the software listed above will not be considered.
Architectural Documentation The successful candidate must be capable of independently understanding high-quality residential construction documents, including: Floor plans Reflected ceiling plans Exterior elevations Building sections Details Door and window schedules Interior elevations Millwork and cabinetry details Finish and material documentation Coordination drawings and consultant integration Candidates should understand not only how to draw these elements, but why they are designed and detailed the way they are and how they will ultimately be constructed in the field. Design & Visualization The ideal candidate is equally strong in architectural interior design and visual communication and can: Translate conceptual ideas into sophisticated architectural designs. Develop highly detailed 3D models suitable for both design development and client presentation. Produce photorealistic interior and exterior renderings without relying on others to complete the visualization process. Create daylight, evening, material, lighting, and environmental studies. Develop multiple design options quickly for internal and client review. Accurately represent architectural materials, custom millwork, stone, wood, metal, glazing, lighting, landscaping, furnishings, and architectural details. Produce polished presentation materials suitable for high-net-worth and highly discerning residential clients. Use visualization as a design-development tool rather than simply creating attractive final images. Independent Project Execution This position requires a designer who can take ownership of assigned work and drive it forward. The successful candidate will be expected to: Work from sketches, concepts, redlines, precedent imagery, and verbal direction. Identify missing information and proactively obtain what is needed to keep a project moving. Anticipate coordination issues before they become construction or documentation problems. Review their own work for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and design quality. Manage multiple priorities and project deadlines without constant supervision. Communicate clearly with project leadership and proactively report project issues. Accept direction and translate feedback into accurate revisions without requiring repeated instruction. Maintain organized, accurate, and current project files and models.
REQUIRED PORTFOLIO A
professional portfolio is required and must demonstrate substantial experience with high-end custom residential architecture. The portfolio must include examples of: Millwork/cabinetry or specialty detailing Interior and exterior 3D modeling Photorealistic renderings Completed or substantially developed luxury residential projects Portfolios consisting primarily of academic projects, entry-level drafting exercises, generic commercial work, or residential projects lacking a high level of design/detail will not be considered.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from an accredited program. NCIDQ licensure or active progress toward licensure is strongly preferred.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced architectural interior visualizer professional who can hit the ground running. This person should be able to walk into an active luxury residential project, understand the design intent, open the model, identify what needs to be done, and begin producing high-quality work with limited hand-holding. If you are early in your architectural career and are primarily looking for an opportunity to learn Revit, residential detailing, 3D visualization, or construction documentation, this position is not the right fit.
What We Offer Salary:
$60,000
  • $72,000 (commensurate with custom residential experience)
