Job Description

Residential Architectural Drafter We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Residential Architectural Drafter to join our design team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience preparing residential construction drawings and understands how architectural plans translate into actual construction. The Residential Architectural Drafter will work directly under the supervision of a Project Manager , assisting with the preparation, development, and revision of residential design and construction documents throughout the project. Responsibilities Work directly under a Project Manager to develop and complete residential projects Prepare and revise residential architectural drawings using AutoCAD Architecture Produce accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction documents Conduct and document field measurements of existing residential properties Translate field measurements and existing site conditions into accurate CAD drawings Apply knowledge of residential building codes and construction requirements Develop drawings with an understanding of how residential projects are actually constructed Prepare and modify construction details for residential projects Incorporate revisions based on Project Manager, designer, client, and city plan-check comments Coordinate architectural drawings with existing site conditions and project requirements Maintain organized and accurate drawing files throughout the project Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding project progress, revisions, and outstanding items Assist the Project Manager with drafting-related tasks and project documentation as needed Required Qualifications Proficiency in AutoCAD Architecture Previous experience drafting residential construction documents Strong understanding of residential building codes Ability to accurately perform and document field measurements Strong understanding of residential construction detailing Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings Understanding of common residential construction methods and materials Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow direction from a Project Manager and meet project deadlines Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the project team Preferred Qualifications Experience with residential remodels, additions, ADUs, or new construction Experience preparing plans for city/permit submittals Familiarity with California residential building codes Experience responding to city plan-check comments Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and detailing Experience working in an architectural design, construction, or residential drafting environment Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who doesn't just know how to draw in CAD, but understands what they are drawing and how it will be built in the field . The ideal candidate can take accurate field measurements, develop clear and precise construction drawings, understand residential code requirements, and produce practical construction details. They should be comfortable working closely with a Project Manager , taking direction, communicating issues, and helping move projects from initial measurements through completed construction documents. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in producing accurate, buildable residential drawings.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
