Job Description

Design Coordinator - Kitchen & Bath Remodeling J&J Construction of Illinois Aurora, IL Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $78,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Architectural design Coordinating with subcontractors on construction projects Residential interior design project Driver's License Attention to detail Driving Full Job Description Design Coordinator J&J Construction of Illinois, Inc. | Aurora, IL | Full-time | $50,000-$78,000/year, depending on experience Every remodeling client signs a contract expecting the next few months to go smoothly. This role is what makes that happen. You're the person who takes a locked design concept and turns it into an accurate, ordered, ready-to-build project before our crews ever show up. If you like solving the "how does this actually get built" puzzle more than the sales pitch, this is your seat. About J&J Construction We're a family-owned design-build remodeling company based in Aurora, IL, serving Aurora, Naperville, and Chicago's western suburbs since 1992. We handle kitchens, baths, additions, and sunrooms from first conversation through final walkthrough, and we've built our reputation on doing what we say we'll do — no surprises, no nickel-and-diming. About the Role Once a client signs, you become their single point of contact through the day construction starts. You'll go back to the site to take final measurements, redraw the layout in Chief Architect against reality (not the sales concept), run the selection meetings, and lock-in a design the client actually understands before they see it built. From there, you own turning that design into a real order: the cabinet list, the manufacturer's ordering system, flooring and countertop and fixture selections, subcontractor and vendor quotes, and tracking it all against the budget. A year in, you'll be the reason our production team gets handed a project with nothing left to figure out. What You'll Do Serve as the client's main point of contact from signed contract through the start of construction Take final field measurements and redraw layouts in Chief Architect (CAD) Run client selection meetings — cabinet style, color, layout and function decisions Lock-in the final design and produce accurate customer sign-off drawings, plus field-ready production drawings for the crew Build the cabinet order from the layout, check every cabinet for clearance issues, and enter it into the manufacturer's ordering system Select and order flooring, countertops, and plumbing fixtures/hardware Get subcontractor and vendor quotes, track lead times, and flag anything that threatens the construction start date Track material and trade costs against the original estimate Coordinate with our outside architect on permitted projects Hand the finished, ready-to-build project off to our production team
What We're Looking For Required:
3+ years of experience in kitchen/bath design Experience with CAD or kitchen/bath design software (Chief Architect, 2020 Design, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar) Comfortable juggling multiple vendors, deadlines, and moving pieces on several projects at once Valid driver's license and clean driving record; this role includes regular job-site visits Sharp attention to detail; this job exists to catch problems before they cost a client's start date
Preferred:
Direct experience with Chief Architect NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) certification or coursework Experience with a cabinet manufacturer's ordering platforms
Compensation and Benefits:
$50,000-$78,000/year, based on experience. Full-time. Health insurance and paid time off.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
Benefits:
401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Application Question(s): Do you have a portfolio of work you can share? Please include a link if you have one.

kitchen and bath design: 3 years (Required)
