Cincinnati, OH Job Details Full-time $23 - $33 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description Roof Truss Designer - Building Components Nisbet Brower Building Products is seeking a Roof Truss Designer to join our Components team. This position is focused on the design and layout of wood roof truss systems for residential and commercial construction , with the opportunity to cross-train and develop into Panel Design . We are looking for someone with experience or a strong technical foundation in roof trusses, structural building components, wood framing, residential construction design, or a closely related construction-design field .

Please note:

This is a building-component design position focused on wood roof trusses. It is not a general mechanical, product, or graphic design position. What You'll Do Review architectural and construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and customer information. Develop accurate roof truss designs and layouts for residential and commercial projects. Prepare production-ready drawings and design information for truss manufacturing. Review plans for structural requirements, dimensions, loads, framing conditions, and potential design conflicts. Identify missing or conflicting information and work with the appropriate parties to resolve design questions. Coordinate with Sales, Estimating, Production, builders, and customers throughout the design process. Revise designs based on plan changes, field conditions, engineering requirements, or customer needs. Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering requirements, and company standards. Maintain accurate project drawings, files, and design documentation. Provide technical support related to truss layouts and building-component design. Cross-train in Panel Design as knowledge of Nisbet Brower's products, systems, and processes develops. What We're Looking For Preferred experience includes: Roof truss design or structural building-component design. Residential or commercial wood-framing design . Experience working with a truss manufacturer, component manufacturer, lumber/building-material supplier, builder, or related construction organization. Experience reading and interpreting architectural plans, construction drawings, framing plans, and blueprints . Knowledge of residential construction methods and building materials. Experience with MiTek, Alpine, or similar component/truss design software is highly desirable. Understanding of roof systems, framing terminology, dimensions, loads, and structural components. Candidates with CAD or drafting backgrounds may also be considered when their experience includes construction plans, structural components, architectural drawings, wood framing, or other directly related building-construction applications . Skills & Qualifications Strong mathematical and spatial-reasoning abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to visualize three-dimensional structures from construction drawings. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working across Sales, Estimating, Production, and other departments. Ability and willingness to learn additional building-component design functions. Interest in developing into Panel Design and becoming a multi-skilled member of the Components team.
