Position Summary:

JMT is seeking a Water Resources intern to support with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments active participation in project design & documentation, gain practical experience and support their educational development. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g.

H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT

) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. This internship is being offered at our Tyler, TX or Longview, TX office. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist senior or lead engineers with basic design tasks, including hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and modeling, plans production, estimates, and reports

Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases

Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings

Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed

Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices

Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience

Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members

Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders

Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Full-time student currently pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in transportation projects Required Skills Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication

Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials

Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity

Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups

Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors

Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others Qualifications Preferred Coursework in hydrology and/or hydraulics, fluid mechanics, transportation, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Previous internship experience

Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
