Overview Join our dynamic team as a Traveling Instrument Technician and become a vital part of maintaining and troubleshooting complex industrial instrumentation across multiple locations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, ensuring the optimal performance of instrumentation systems in various industrial environments. As a Traveling Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of instrumentation equipment, ensuring safety and operational excellence on every site. Responsibilities Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation systems including sensors, transducers, and control devices across different facilities. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control system diagrams, and technical drawings like AutoCAD blueprints. Perform electrical diagnostics on low voltage and high voltage systems while adhering to electrical safety procedures. Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, calibration data, troubleshooting steps, and repair histories. Conduct field service activities involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), vision inspection systems, sensors, and industrial automation components. Collaborate with engineering teams to support system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities in various industrial settings. Requirements Proven experience with hydraulics, pneumatic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and industrial controls. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform equipment troubleshooting and maintenance in diverse environments. Hands-on experience with electrical instrumentation reading schematics and blueprints; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus. Knowledge of calibration procedures for sensors and instrumentation; experience with calibration tools is preferred. Ability to read P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and schematics accurately. Skilled in programming in engineering environments such as Calypso or similar platforms; experience with automation programming is advantageous. Proficiency with diagnostic tools including voltmeters, ohmmeters, ohmmeters, sensors testing devices, vision inspection systems, and low/high voltage testing equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical systems—both low voltage and high voltage—and industrial automation systems like PLCs and DCS. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to field service activities across multiple sites. Willingness to travel extensively to different locations; valid driver's license required. Relevant certifications in electrical safety procedures; technical training or certifications in industrial maintenance or electronics are highly desirable.
