Job Description

About Kem-Tec Kem-Tec, A Group of Companies is a full-service firm based in Eastpointe, MI providing Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Architectural, and Environmental Services across Southeast Michigan. Overview Kem-Tec is seeking Field Crew Instrument Technicians to assist Crew Chiefs in performing field work across all survey types, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction layout. Candidates with hands-on Trimble equipment experience are strongly preferred. Responsibilities Assist the Crew Chief in executing field surveys of all types Set up and operate Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment Perform physical field tasks including walking varied terrain, hammering stakes, and clearing brush Maintain accurate field notes and communicate observations to the Crew Chief Operate company vehicles safely to and from field sites Base Qualifications All candidates must meet the following: High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to perform physical field work including walking long distances and uneven terrain Strong math and computation skills Role Levels Kem-Tec hires at two levels based on experience and certification. Candidates are evaluated and placed accordingly. Instrument Technician I 1-2 years of experience in surveying and/or construction Hands-on experience with Trimble GPS and robotic total stations required Basic surveying knowledge Level I CST certification preferred Instrument Technician II 2-5 years of experience in surveying and/or construction Strong working knowledge of Trimble survey equipment required Knowledge of survey types and the differences between them Ability to read survey documents, legal descriptions, and construction plans Some experience with field note taking Level II CST certification preferred Benefits Competitive pay Flexible hours Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off How to Apply - Send your resume to Lashawn Farago at lfarago@kemtec-survey.com.
