Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Instrument Electrical Technician to join our engineering maintenance team. This vital role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical instrumentation systems used in industrial environments. The successful candidate will ensure the optimal operation of complex electrical and control systems, including sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and industrial automation equipment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the reliability and efficiency of critical manufacturing processes through precise diagnostics, calibration, and maintenance of electrical instrumentation. Responsibilities Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical instrumentation systems including sensors, transducers, and control devices in accordance with engineering specifications and schematics. Troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and specialized calibration instruments. Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and control system blueprints to support installation and maintenance activities. Perform preventive maintenance on industrial controls such as distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision inspection systems, and other automation equipment. Conduct electrical diagnostics to identify faults within high voltage and low voltage systems, ensuring safety procedures are strictly followed. Support the programming and configuration of industrial controls using software such as Calypso or AutoCAD for system design modifications. Assist in troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems to resolve operational issues efficiently. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, calibration records, and system modifications. Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance through upgrades or modifications. Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures during all maintenance activities. Qualifications Proven experience as an industrial electrician or instrumentation technician within manufacturing or process industries. Strong knowledge of electrical systems including wiring, schematics reading, calibration, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with industrial automation components such as sensors, PLCs, DCS, vision inspection systems, and HMI interfaces. Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, hydraulics, piping diagrams (P&IDs), and instrumentation calibration techniques. Proficiency in reading electrical blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar software. Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of electrical safety procedures related to high voltage and low voltage systems. Experience with programming in engineering environments or control system configuration is highly desirable. Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with strong troubleshooting skills for equipment maintenance. Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and supporting customer service initiatives.
