Location:

Hanover, Maryland This opportunity sits within an engineering center of excellence focused on aerospace, defense, underwater robotic, and electromechanical systems. The role offers the chance to contribute to complex power and control systems, supporting concept development, design, integration, troubleshooting, and testing in a highly technical environment. This position is well suited to candidates who enjoy combining electrical engineering design with hands-on involvement in build and test activities.

Required Education:

Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field with an electrical concentration, such as

Computer Engineering or Robotics Engineering Required Experience:

Minimum 10+ years of practical technical experience across the electrical engineering process, including concept development, analysis, simulation, design, drawing, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex electrical, electromechanical, and automated or robotic systems Experience leading significant portions of electrical and control system design work and mentoring small to medium engineering teams Experience working from high-level requirements to develop complete system or subsystem designs with minimal supervision Experience collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions Experience with DC power systems design, including estimating system power and energy requirements

Required Skills:

Strong capability in electrical and control system design for complex technical systems Experience selecting and integrating commercial off-the-shelf electrical and electronic equipment, including interface design Knowledge of electrical and electronic components and wiring devices such as signal conditioning, power supplies, control devices, switching devices, safety devices, terminal blocks, connectors, DIN rail, wiring, cabling, and marshalling Experience with industrial embedded microprocessor and single-board computer based control systems, including I/O definition and signal, sensor, and actuator interfacing Experience designing and integrating communications interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, SPI, I2C, and CAN in high-noise environments Knowledge of wiring, cabling, grounding, and electrical noise and EMI mitigation practices Strong ability to create and interpret detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and system block diagrams Proficiency with electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, communications analyzers, insulation testers, spectrum analyzers, CTDR, OTDR, and optical power meters Proficiency with engineering and analysis tools such as Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, MathCAD, and MATLAB Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present engineering concepts clearly Ability to travel on occasion, typically for up to one to two weeks at a time, including domestic, international, or offshore travel

Department of Defense Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in marine, surface, or underwater technologies, including ROVs, AUVs, sonar systems, and related robotic and electromechanical systems Working knowledge of industry, technical, and military standards such as IEEE, ANSI, IEC, ISO, NEMA, NEC, and MIL standards Practical technician skills including assembly, wiring, soldering, and cabling Experience with fiber-optics Experience with printed circuit board design Experience with brushless motor drives, robotics, and automation Experience designing, analyzing, and tuning closed-loop feedback control systems Experience with low- to medium-voltage single-phase and three-phase power systems Experience applying machine safety systems and standards Experience with programming languages or script writing
