We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer with experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment to join our FAA-certified repair station. This is a hands-on engineering position where you will work directly with circuit boards, electronic components, wiring, electrical assemblies, test equipment, and complex systems. You will diagnose failures, determine root cause, perform repairs, test equipment, and verify that the repair was successful. Hands-on repair and troubleshooting experience is extremely important for this position. This role is a particularly good fit for an Electrical Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Controls Engineer, Test Engineer, Avionics Engineer, or similar engineer who enjoys getting out of the office and working directly with hardware.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment and assemblies. Diagnose failures at the circuit board and component level. Use digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment to diagnose problems. Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits and identify failed or malfunctioning components. Perform hands-on electronic repair, including soldering, desoldering, component replacement, PCB rework, wiring repair, and connector repair. Read and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. Trace circuits and signals to isolate electrical and electronic faults. Develop and perform electrical and electronic tests to verify equipment functionality. Perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures and recurring problems. Document troubleshooting, repair procedures, test results, and findings. Work with engineering and repair personnel to improve troubleshooting and repair processes. Assist with development and improvement of test procedures, fixtures, and troubleshooting methods. Perform mechanical modifications when required to complete repairs, including drilling, filing, cutouts, and other basic fabrication.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electronic hardware. Experience diagnosing electrical/electronic failures using test equipment. Experience using tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Hands-on experience with soldering and electronic assembly/rework. Understanding of electrical circuits, electronic components, and electrical/electronic systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and determine the root cause of equipment failures.
Preferred Qualifications:
PCB-level troubleshooting and component-level repair experience Experience repairing electronic equipment, not just testing or replacing assemblies Knowledge of analog/digital electronics, embedded controls, sensors, or instrumentation Circuit board rework, including through-hole and/or surface-mount components Experience with electrical test equipment and laboratory instrumentation Experience developing test procedures, troubleshooting guides, or test fixtures Root-cause and failure analysis experience Background in aviation, aerospace, avionics, defense, military electronics, industrial controls, robotics, medical equipment, or similar fields FAA-certified repair station experience and familiarity with FAA regulations/QMS practices
