Full-time Full-time Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled Project Engineer with a strong background in industrial electronics, electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems, and hands-on experience with Modicon PLCs. The ideal candidate will have prior project experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, focusing on safety, precision, and reliability. This role involves leading capital and maintenance projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring technical deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and support engineering projects within a chemical manufacturing facility primarily around electrical systems but may include multiple disciplines (structural, mechanical, or civil) Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and panel layouts Design, implement, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems (E&I) Manage project documentation, timelines, budgets, and change orders Support troubleshooting of instrumentation issues to support 24x7 operations and optimize Modicon PLC-based control systems Conduct field inspections, equipment evaluations, and participate in commissioning activities Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams Support procurement, vendor coordination, installation supervision, and outage work Identify technical risks and propose solutions to ensure successful project outcomes Support proactive maintenance strategies to improve instrumentation reliability Perform root cause analysis on instrumentation failures, develop corrective actions and track results Review specifications and vendor submittals for major project new instrumentation Ensure compliance with chemical industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards Required Education and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or related field 3+ years of experience in a project engineering role, preferably in a chemical or process manufacturing plant Proficient with industrial control systems and Modicon PLCs Strong foundation in industrial electronics, instrumentation, and control logic Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments Must have Capital Project and Field experience Preferred Skills Multiple discipline project experience related to mechanical, civil, or structural Familiarity with
SCADA/HMI
systems in batch or continuous chemical processes Experience with hazardous area classification, grounding, protective systems, and managing small to mid-size capital projects ($50K-$2M range) Understanding of chemical process safety, PHA, and MOC systems Strong documentation skills and attention to detail under regulatory requirements Familiarity with SAP systems and proficiency in AutoCAD Knowledge of applicable standards such as
