Job Description

Job Overview Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a PLC Maintenance & Programming Specialist for a client within the automotive manufacturing industry. Position Overview This position supports preventative and predictive maintenance activities to ensure production lines and plant equipment remain operational in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, PLC programming , PLC and control system support, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance. This is a technical role with strong exposure to automation systems and cross-functional collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and production teams. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, program, and modify PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, and electrical/mechanical systems to maintain equipment uptime and improve system performance. Develop, edit, and optimize PLC programs to support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new equipment installations. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities and ensure PM work orders are completed on time. Analyze equipment downtime data and implement corrective actions and countermeasures to improve equipment reliability. Read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, blueprints, and ladder logic to support maintenance and equipment improvements. Support capital projects, equipment installations, system startups, and collaborate with vendors and contractors on automation projects. Provide technical support and mentorship to maintenance team members while assisting with complex automation and control system issues. Ensure compliance with safety policies, LOTO procedures, and company standards including ISO and IATF. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 3 years of maintenance or controls experience in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience troubleshooting, programming, and modifying PLCs , preferably Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal . Experience with HMI programming, motion controls, industrial automation, and electrical control systems. Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and OSHA safety standards. Experience supporting machine automation, production equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives. Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP systems such as SAP or VAATZ. Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
