The position combines project leadership, system integration, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, and continuous improvement while providing technical support, training, and expertise across manufacturing and industrial technology environments.
Responsibilities:
Project Management and Support:
Lead automation and industrial IT projects, providing technical expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, control system integration, industrial networking, and manufacturing technologies. Support project planning, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, manufacturing servers, network devices, and virtualization environments supporting production operations. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements. Develop, modify, test, and implement PLC and HMI programs while installing and upgrading hardware, software, and automation systems to support operations. Setup and Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues. Focus on managing and integrating data across various systems, ensuring accurate and seamless data flow, work on integrating disparate systems, maintaining data integrity, and optimizing data workflows. Provide good documentation and technical specifications to the team for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure. Perform regular data backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Network and Security Management:
Focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure and security protocols within an industrial setting, ensuring reliable and secure communication between various industrial control systems.
PLC and HMI Programming and Integration:
Specializing in programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and developing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to control and monitor industrial processes, while ensuring seamless integration with other IT systems.
System Optimization and Troubleshooting:
Conducting regular audits and optimizations of the industrial IT infrastructure to improve performance and efficiency and troubleshooting complex system issues to minimize downtime in production environments.
Training and Development:
Provide training and technical support to maintenance, operations, and engineering personnel on PLCs, HMIs, manufacturing software, and industrial IT systems. Stay informed on emerging automation, industrial networking, cybersecurity, and manufacturing technology trends. Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Travel will be required if needed to visit company locations across multiple states. Travel by car and airplane will be required.
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential job functions of this job. This position works in a typical office environment and will be required to be outdoors in the plant from time to time as needed. Safety glasses and closed toe shoes are always required when in the plant or warehouse. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
