On-Site / Field (Hickory, KY) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced HVAC Quality Control Specialist & Field Technical Lead to oversee product reliability, resolve high-level technical issues, and provide hands-on field service. In this hybrid role, you will serve as the primary technical authority for diagnosing complex equipment failures, auditing new and existing HVAC product lines, and directly supporting local customer service calls when expert escalation is required. Key Responsibilities

• Quality Control & Reliability Assurance Inspect, evaluate, and test incoming HVAC equipment, warranty returns, and field-failed components (compressors, PCBs, heat exchangers, and line sets). Document root-cause failure analyses (RCFA) for product defects, bracket/mounting issues, and manufacturing anomalies. Partner with Engineering and R&D teams to implement engineering change orders (ECOs), packaging updates, and manual revisions.

• Advanced Technical Support & Escalations Serve as the Tier-3 technical lead for complex troubleshooting inquiries from contractors, field technicians, and internal customer support teams. Diagnose electrical, refrigeration, inverter drive, and communication protocol issues across mini-splits, central ducted systems, packaged units, and water heaters. Create internal technical service bulletins (TSBs), troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Local Field Service & Field Diagnostics Perform occasional local service calls and site visits for high-priority customer issues, managing member requests, or field-testing prototypes. Conduct real-world operational assessments of newly developed HVAC equipment in residential and commercial settings. Provide feedback on installation procedures, clearance requirements, and physical component layout to prevent field installation errors. Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on technical HVAC field experience (installation, service, and diagnostic troubleshooting).

Certifications:

Active EPA Universal Certification required; Journeyman or Master HVAC License preferred.

Technical Expertise:

In-depth mastery of inverter-driven compressors, variable-speed systems, hydronic systems, and heat pump technology. Advanced proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagnosing DC voltage communications, and analyzing refrigeration cycles.

Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex technical diagnostics into clear reports and customer-facing instructions. Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in quality control, warranty analysis, or manufacturing engineering support

• Familiarity with regulatory standards (AHRI, ETL, NRCan, CEC) and HVAC testing environments.
