Job Description
Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics seeks an Engineering Manager to lead cross-functional teams in the Engineering & Design department. You will drive development of innovative aircraft instruments, avionics, and power systems for general, business, commercial, and military aviation. Responsibilities include guiding engineers through the full product lifecycle, ensuring adherence to aerospace regulations, championing quality, and fostering continuous improvement. Collaborate with experienced aviation professionals, mentor talent, and support solutions that improve flight safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction in a high-precision environment. Responsibilities Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering and design team supporting avionics, instruments, and electrical power products for aerospace and defense customers. Oversee the full engineering lifecycle from concept and requirements through detailed design, verification, and transition to production. Provide technical direction, review, and approval of engineering work products including requirements, designs, analyses, test plans, and reports. Plan and allocate engineering resources, manage team workload, and support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of engineers and designers. Collaborate with program management to define scope, estimates, schedules, and budgets for new product development and sustainment projects. Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, industry standards, and internal quality and configuration management processes. Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, design robustness, test coverage, and documentation quality. Support internal and external design reviews, audits, conformity inspections, and certification activities with aviation authorities and OEM partners. Coordinate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet reliability and safety targets. Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, problem solving, and customer focus within the engineering organization.
