Engineering Operations Manager / Senior Licensed Professional Engineer CLC Engineering - Alexandria, Louisiana Lead Engineering. Develop People. Drive Projects. Help Build the Future of CLC Engineering. CLC Engineering, LLC is a growing civil and structural engineering firm based in Alexandria, Louisiana, specializing in the physical civil and structural design of high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards . We are looking for an experienced Professional Engineer (PE) to join our leadership team as an Engineering Operations Manager / Senior Engineer . This position is designed for an engineer who wants to combine technical engineering, project management, team leadership, and company operations . The successful candidate will work closely with company leadership and will have a direct role in managing engineering resources, supporting projects and clients, developing staff, improving processes, and helping guide the continued growth of the firm. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Operations Manager will remain involved in engineering and project work and will provide technical support when needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Engineering Operations Manager will work closely with the Company President and other company leaders to coordinate engineering operations and help ensure projects are properly staffed, efficiently executed, and completed according to schedule, budget, and CLC Engineering quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead, mentor, and support engineering and design personnel. Help develop a strong, collaborative, and accountable engineering team. Plan and forecast engineering workloads, staffing requirements, and project resources. Assign projects and technical responsibilities based on employee experience, capabilities, and project requirements. Establish priorities when multiple projects and deadlines compete for available resources. Monitor project schedules, budgets, deliverables, staffing, and overall project performance. Develop, implement, and maintain effective project management and operational procedures. Review engineering work for compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements. Work directly with the President and Vice President on proposals, project quotes, client relationships, change orders, and business decisions . Participate in client communication and help maintain strong professional relationships. Identify potential project, staffing, scheduling, and technical issues and develop practical solutions. Coordinate with clients, engineers, designers, contractors, utilities, and other project stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and engineering support to project teams. Perform or assist with hands-on engineering and design work when project needs require additional technical support . Support business development and assist with developing new project opportunities. Assist with annual and long-term strategic planning. Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, efficiency, quality control, and project delivery. Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, employee development, and performance management. Help establish and maintain consistent engineering standards and workflows. Serve as a member of the company leadership team. Act as a trusted partner to the Company President on engineering, operational, staffing, and management matters. Travel up to approximately 25% as needed.
A HANDS-ON ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP ROLE
This position is intended for someone who still enjoys engineering . The Engineering Operations Manager will not simply assign projects and manage from behind a desk. This person should understand the technical challenges faced by engineers and designers, be able to provide meaningful technical direction, review engineering work, troubleshoot problems, and step into engineering and design work when additional support is needed. The role will regularly move between: Engineering and technical problem-solving Project management Team leadership Client communication Resource planning Quality control Business operations Staff development The ideal candidate enjoys both engineering and leadership and wants to have a meaningful role in building and improving a growing engineering organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year university. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license. 5-15 years of progressive engineering, project management, leadership, or management experience. Strong knowledge of civil and/or structural engineering principles and practices. Strong understanding of physical civil and structural design for high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards . Experience managing engineering projects, teams, schedules, budgets, and resources. Working knowledge of engineering design standards, applicable codes, specifications, and quality requirements. Demonstrated leadership and delegation abilities. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, engineers, designers, contractors, utilities, and company leadership. Strong computer skills and familiarity with engineering design and visualization software. AutoCAD experience. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a leadership team. Willingness and ability to remain involved in hands-on engineering work when required. Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY & COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship . CLC Engineering does not provide employment visa sponsorship for this position. Fluent English proficiency is required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with clients, engineers, designers, contractors, and company leadership. Must be able to independently read, interpret, prepare, and review technical engineering documents, specifications, correspondence, reports, and project documentation in English.

LOCATION
Alexandria, Louisiana This is a full-time, on-site position . Remote work is not available. Candidates must currently reside in the Alexandria, Louisiana area or be willing to relocate to Alexandria, LA. Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
